ARGONIA, Kansas USA — Labor Day weekend at LDRS in the Kloudbuster's Rocket Pasture continues, and the Tripoli Rocketry Association has announced next year's venue for the organization's annual rocket launch.  2009 will find the launch moving to the East coast, near Penn Yan, New York, July 2-6.

The location is the Potter Farm, outside Potter, New York, currently host to the Potter Youth Rocketry Oganization, National Association of Rocketry
Section #667.  The field is also the scene of NYPEX II, held on Monday, July 28th, the day after NYPOWER13, where an O motor was flown, and carries a 15,000 waiver.

The winning bid for LDRS28 was submitted by Debra Kolums, Neil McGilvrey and Bob Utley, and will be hosted by Tripoli Western New York, Maryland Delaware Rocketry Association (MDRA), Metropolitan Rocketry Association (METRA) and Tripoli Central Virginia.  ROCKETS Magazine will be the sponsor.

Commerical launches will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturdat with Sunday and Monday reserved for research motors.

Speaking of research, TRA announced changes to their research rules at this year's LDRS, which allows members 18 years of age to fly Level 0 motors and certify Level 1, as well as fly Level 1 and certify Level 2 at upcoming research events.

Certification at Tripoli research launches remains the same as certification at all launches, requiring the use of certified motors with the same impulse limits. All levels of Tripoli certification can take place at a Tripoli research launch. To participate in flights containing research motors still requires the member to be Tripoli Level 2 certified while flights using research motors still must be within the flier's certification level.

These changes are effective immediately.

Preliminary election results show incumbents Ken Good and Terry McCreary being elected for another term, to be joined by Stu Barrett, who was seated for his first term.  Congratulations to all of the candidates.
